Another book review! ¬†ūüôā

This book is a true story about a mother who works full time as a writer for Day of Our lives and has four teenagers at home.  She has two biological children (one with autism) and two adopted children.  She has one adopted son from overseas and one adopted daughter from overseas as well who has a missing leg and deformed fingers.

She does a great job at balancing work and family life until her college age daughter announces that she is pregnant and plans on keeping the baby. ¬†Also she plans on marrying the baby’s father whom, according to her mother, she barely knows.

That’s enough to throw Dena (the mother) over the edge. ¬†She lands in the hospital…that’s how the story begins.

Through the rest of the book Dena shares with us how she planned her daughter’s wedding as well as running her kids everywhere they needed to be….while trying to maintain her job and afterwards be the grandmother that she needs to be.

Although this book had some great little lessons in it…it’s not a book I would recommend to anybody. ¬†The writing was horrible and really….every mother goes through things that may throw her over the edge…but we all don’t write a book about it. ¬†The only thing different about Dena and other mothers is that she was a writer for a soap opera. ¬†I don’t know if she thinks that gives her a great opportunity to write a book but really she shouldn’t have bothered.

I learned one valuable lesson from this book and I’ll share it with you free of charge so you won’t have to go buy this book.

Here it is:

When you’re a grandmother forget about the cleaning of your house, the errands you have to do and just play with your grandchildren. ¬†Remember (in most cases) you send them home afterwards….take the time to enjoy them and love them and play with them. ¬†Spoil them…that’s what grandparents are for!

If you think you still want to read this book you can have my copy. ¬†ūüėČ

I give this book 1 sucker out of 5…just for the valuable lesson I learned above. ¬†That’s all.
