Dear Cat….

Dear Cat

Do you really think you are fooling me?  Do you think I don’t notice?  Do you think I don’t “get you”?

Well…let me tell you something I do!!!  I’m on to you.  I know your ways.

I get the little game that you play with me.

You go to the door once I’m all nice and comfy in my chair.  All warm with all the blankets around me and just relaxing.  You go to the door and you sit there patiently for about three minutes. Then you make this fierce “meow” that can only come from the depths of hell…signaling that you want out.  If I ignore you it just gets louder.

So I huff and I get out of my chair…and I let you out.  Then I proceed to get all comfy again.  Five minutes pass (if I’m lucky) and then I hear a banging at the door.  Yup, it’s you.  You want back in.  Grumbling to myself I get back up and let you in.

This happens a good three or four times till finally you decide to come in for good and are all curled up on the couch with the blankets all around you.  When I go to grab the blanket you glare at me and don’t budge!  Well, I oughta…..

I also notice, oh yes I do, you running.  Yes, I’ve seen it happen.  I know you can do it.  You run at full force speed and then climb up a tree.  So…why is it that when I have to go to the bathroom you walk slower than a snail…and you zig zag in all directions so I can’t get around you?  Why?????  Don’t you know that time is of the essence when I have to use the bathroom.  It waits for no man..or woman!

When I try to step around you, you growl and then take your aggression out on the dog.  Now..really is that necessary?  He’s just an innocent bystander.

Oh let’s talk about the dog for a second!

Do you remember that little incident when all three of you (you, the other cat and the dog) were basking in the sun, laying on my living room floor??  Oh I bet you do!  Remember when the kitten got up and jumped on your head?  She remembers, I remember and the dog most certainly remembers.  The kitten got up and ran…the dog sat up straight and tried not to look you in the eyes…and all the world watched while you got your “mad” on.  The dog, oh the one that you love and give little head nudges to whenever you are feeling groovy, that poor dog didn’t stand a chance.  He was right in the line of fire.  He couldn’t make any sudden moves, couldn’t even look at you.  He tried to sneak a look in, noticed you were mad and then quickly turned his head back.

Poor dog, he really didn’t deserve the beating on the head you gave him after the fact.  You really should apologize.

Even though you are set in your ways and getting older I still love you…but I won’t play your games anymore.  You move when I say move, you stay in when I stay in and you sleep when I say sleep.

Is that ok with you?

No?

Well..ok don’t get mad…let’s just keep things the way they were.  No need for aggression.

Ps.  I’m blessed to have two cats…just one of them is moody 🙂

While we were away on our vacation last week I stopped in at Old Navy (of course) and bought a cute little Motorcycle fleece sweater for Little E.  I was super excited about it cause I only paid $9 for it and it was really really cute…and he loved it!

Well, he only wore it once before he fell in some mud and got himself all dirty.

Yah...it went all over the side of his face too.

So…we took it off and we headed on our way home a day later.

Little E wanted to go outside one morning around 11:00….so I thought…today would be a PERFECT day for him to wear it.

So I searched for it…and searched for it…and searched for it some more.

I called my sister in law and asked her if she had seen it and she hadn’t.  I remembered showing it to my mom so I called her later and she said she didn’t know where it was either.

So I searched and searched again….getting more and more frustrated as the day went on.  Finally around 10 that night I gave up my search.

2 days later I found it…in a bag up on a shelf.  I had glanced up on the shelf a few times the day I was searching for it…but all I found up there was a hat…and figured that was all that was there.  I didn’t look through anything else….basically I was looking like a man does …hehe

I was so excited that I found it!  I called my friends and told them…lol.

Then….later that same day Little E’s lens fell out of his glasses.  We searched all over the house for it…ALL over…couldn’t find it.

Hubby called Vogue Optical and they said it wouldn’t be covered under our warranty and that it would cost $90.

I kept searching…knowing that we didn’t have $90 for a new lens…but knowing that Little E needed his glasses.

Frustrated…I gave in and we went to Vogue Optical where the very nice lady told us not to worry about it…they would cover it and we wouldn’t have to pay the money!   (And I didn’t even have to tell her we didn’t have it!)

Made my day a little better…UNTIL later that night when…….

I came up into the living room to see the screen door open slightly…knowing that my older cat had opened it and pretty sure that my kitten had run out it.

So I grabbed my shoes and started hunting the dark outside for my kitten.  Looked everywhere…growing more and more frustrated as the minutes passed by.  Grumbling at my husband for not realizing the door was open (even though it wasn’t his fault to be a guard to the door).

About 10 minutes later…she came back…perfectly fine.

So in three days I had lost three things and had found three things…and do you know what????

Not once had I relied and trusted God to help me find these things.

Now..I know some of you are probably saying “well that’s silly….those weren’t big things”.  But, somebody asked me on Facebook (when I was looking for the sweater) if I had “prayed to God about it….because even He cares about the little things!”   And you know what….I’m sure that probably would have helped my frustration level…if nothing else.

So lesson learned:  Next time I am looking for something….or have a problem..not matter how small it is…I’m going to take it to God first, and let Him take care of the rest.

Blessing:  My blessing for today is that my husband is working!  Working pays the bills!  🙂

This morning we woke up to Little E yelling from his bed:

“where is everybody?”

So hubby went in and laid down with him for a few minutes.  The next thing I hear is the cat coming in to the room and Little E says “Daddy pip squeak’s motor is running!”

Daddy said:  “That’s right it is!  Do you know what that means?  That means that she’s happy!”

About an hour later Little E was going to the bathroom and when he was done said this:

“Daddy, I’m really happy….my motor is running!”

🙂

Love mornings with my boy…he’s so happy!

This past Saturday my husband was out working on somebody’s house and he decided to bring home a surprise.  I was out in the backyard gathering up the tent to fold up before Hurricane Irene came our way and I came out to see what all the commotion was about.

To my surprise and HORROR…hubby (oh my lovely hubby) decided to bring home a half dead mouse.

Yup…you read that right.  A Half. Dead. Mouse.

He said he saved it. I told him it was pretty much dead.  However, he was pretty adamant that he was saving it.

Then…..

He proceeded to show it to the cat….who basically just sat on the thing..not even realizing it was there.

Yah…how’s that for saving the mouse?

Hubby then proceeded to get me to look at the mouse and he was pretty adamant that I look at the mouse.

Instead…I ran into the house.

I came back out after he had backed down to hear Little E say to me:

“Mom, Daddy’s a Super Hero.”

LOL.  I guess he was pretty proud of his daddy saving the mouse….even if it ended up dying about five minutes later. 🙂
