Time for a book review!
This time I picked up the book: Dear Deb by Margaret Terry.
Deb goes to Margaret’s church and has announced to her group that she has cancer. She wants and believes in a miracle. Margaret befriends her and starts writing letters to her to encourage her daily and give her something to look forward to each day as she fights the fight that is taking her life.
This was a different book than what I originally thought it would be. When I first read the review for it I thought it would be a book where Deb, the woman with cancer, is writing back and forth to Margaret. However this is not the case. This is a bunch of letters that Margaret wrote to Deb about Margaret’s own life and the many things she has overcome.
Throughout these letters Margaret is encouraging Deb and also encouraging the reader. She tells of what it’s like to be a mother, to go through divorce and how she eventually came back to God.
This was an easy read, however I really enjoyed it. I felt like I was sitting down with Margaret, enjoying a cup of coffee while she told me about her life. I also enjoyed how, without even knowing it, the words that God had given to Margaret encouraged me…even though the letters were not written for me. They challenged me to examine my life, to think about things and to change some things around.
If you need a light read and want to be encouraged along the way….pick up this book. Margaret Terry is an amazing author and I can’t wait for her next book!
I give this book 4 out of 5 lollipops!
